What are some good tips for being a comedy columnist?

School starts next week, & I will begin my role as the comedy columnist for my school’s newspaper – I’ve always been a good writer, but for some reason, being a columnist kind of has me stumped. What are some good things to cover? Things that are funny, but also PG rated – I would like to know your personal opinions, but if you have sources for me – that’d be good too.
