Theater & Acting

I have a huge audition coming up and I’m looking for a second monologue. It has to be comedy, it must be from a published play or musical, and please no over performed monologues or monologues with content or language issues.
My age range is 14-22 and I’m looking for a slightly more edgy monologue than I usually go for ( I usually go with the “sweet young thing type monologues”.)

I’m interested in taking a sketch-comedy writing class, and I know there is the UCB Theatre in NYC as well as the People’s Improv Theatre, but I’d like something a little bit closer. If anyone has any ideas please don’t hesitate to answer!

Discuss how Beckett’s Waiting for Godot can be considered a play that combines tragedy and comedy. Do you think Beckett is giving us a pessimistic, negative portrayal of human existence, an affirmative and heroic one, or both, or neither? Explain why.
this is a question that could be asked on a test and i need help with it to study

Is there “special training” that goes on to teach actors how to pull of comedy seriously without laughing at it themselves?

My sister was cast as a nun in the school play- they are doing Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, does anyone know the play? We can’t figure out how a nun fits into the plot.

Hi all,

My friends have been pressuring me that I should try to be a Comedian since they say I tell the most hillarious jokes and stories, they suggested I should try my local Stand Up Comedy Clubs. I was wondering, how do you apply or audition? I just want to give it a shot to see either if I am that good as they say I am or not. And what are the do’s and don’ts can you give from a complete amateur who never did anything like this? Thanks for any help and suggestions

how do you know if comedy is the right career for you – if you are the right temperment? I took some of these tests in these comedy books but I don’t know if that means that this is the best thing for me or not.
I haven’t had that much experience yet, so it’s too soon to tell for me.

I really want to direct a show next semester, but I just can’t seem to find any good ones out there. I’d definitely like to do a comedy that’s between 1 and a half and 2 hours long. I’d like a cast between 8-25 people with a set that’s not too complicated. It’s geared toward a college-aged to adult audience. Any suggestions for a show?
